Context
A retailer operating in France, Spain and Belgium, with stores and online sales. Management wanted to understand its logistics options before making a decision.
What I did
Analysis of flows between the warehouse, the stores and e-commerce, and of operational constraints. Modelling and comparison of one- and two-warehouse scenarios, with their impact on transport and operating costs. Centre of gravity study: the theoretical optimal location fell in an area where property and operating costs would have soared, so it was ruled out, with the figures to back it up.
Outcome
A master plan with two costed options, delivered to management to inform its strategic decisions.
