Jérôme Dumas, supply chain and IT consultant

More than 25 years in supply chain, in operations, industry and consulting. Since 2020 I have been working as an independent consultant under my SCM Optimum brand, for mid-sized companies and industrial groups in France and Europe. I am based in Lyon.

Career

  • A nuclear energy company (2026, ongoing): implementation of a PLM to master the configuration of complex products. Read more.
  • A major French footwear company (2026): logistics master plan, two costed options presented to management.
  • Microstore (2025-2026): RFID inventory project. Under 30 minutes instead of 2 hours, with a team of 2 instead of four teams.
  • Sanofi (2024-2025): PMO of the Master Data Management programme, 30 of 60 plants, 25 consultants. EUR 15M stock reduction from duplicate item identification and pooled purchasing.
  • McPhy (2022-2024): PLM project manager for this hydrogen electrolyser manufacturer. Tender, then 3DEXPERIENCE roll-out in France, Italy and Germany: integrator, schedule and budget management, governance and change management. All other tools were retired in favour of a single platform.
  • Aptar (2020-2021): plant supply chain director as an interim manager, my first SCM Optimum assignment. Ran the S&OP process and integrated maintenance planning into the production schedule: until then, maintenance stopped machines without any planning.
  • Haulotte (2018-2020): group supply chain manager (3 subsidiaries worldwide) and project manager for S&OP and the DynaSys APS. One set of forecasts shared by the whole group.
  • Solvay, Supply Chain Excellence (2012-2018): supply chain projects for the group’s business units. Transwide TMS in 4 plants (France, Belgium, Italy, Germany), mobile SAP for real-time inventory, logistics reorganisation of an aerospace subsidiary.
  • Transports Mousset (2011): project manager for the ANDSOFT TMS, from requirements to go-live.
  • Kuehne+Nagel for Orange (2002-2006): tender project manager, then Deputy Site Manager of Orange’s B2B/B2C distribution centre (40,000 m², over 4,500 orders a day). Service level from 75% to 99%.

How I work

I worked in operations before managing IT projects. A tool is only as good as the process and the data behind it. I bring business teams, IT, the software vendor and the integrator together, and I stay until the teams actually use the solution. I have no commercial ties with any software vendor or integrator. I work directly with companies or in partnership with consulting firms and business introducers.

Teaching

I teach supply chain management at Mines Saint-Étienne and at ESQESE.

Education and languages

  • Executive MBA, EM Lyon (2012)
